Bitter, Ary Jean

Ary Jean Bitter (1883-1973)

Ary Bitter was born in Marseilles and studied  art before moving to Paris as a young man.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1910 to 1939. He was awarded Silver 
Gold medals and earned Hors Concours status. In 1932 he was made a Chevalier of the 
Legion of Honour.
His sculptures often feature young maidens with goats, lambs or fawns and are notable for
their grace and simplicity.
